Arkansas Minority Health Commission awards Minority Health Month Awareness sponsorships

The Arkansas Minority Health Commission (AMHC) has awarded eleven organizations across the state with sponsorships to aid in their April health events in honor of Arkansas Minority Health Month.

Through a proclamation by Gov. Asa Hutchinson, April of 2018 is recognized as Arkansas Minority Health Month. The AMHC opens their sponsorship applications up three times a year, setting one open period aside specifically to recognize Arkansas Minority Health Month.

“The AMHC sponsorships align with the National Minority Health Month theme: Partnering for Health Equity,” said ShaRhonda Love, AMHC director.

Sponsorship recipients are as followed:

Community First Alliance

Community Health Centers of Arkansas, Inc.

Innovative Lifestyles for Senior Living, Inc.

L.V. Floyd Memorial Tutoring After School Program

My Life Entrust Foundation.Org

Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.

Reform, Inc.

Agape Academy

Drew Memorial

Bradley County Hometown Health Coalition

Dewitt Hospital & Nursing Home/Ferguson Rural Health Clinic

“We are excited to partner with community-based organizations to meet Arkansans where they are within their communities,” said Love.

The mission of the AMHC is to assure all minority Arkansans equitable access to preventive health care and to seek ways to promote health and prevent diseases and conditions that are prevalent among minority populations.

It is the AMHC’s intent to collaborate with community-based organizations, schools, faith-based organizations and others to address the health problems that effect minorities in Arkansas. In an effort to facilitate the development of new and innovative approaches to promote health and prevent disease in these communities, the AMHC regularly offers sponsorships in a competitive application process.
